Mama’s Blue Dress
Mama’s Blue Dress
Since their first show in January 2012, the band has played to numerous sold-out rooms across the Southeast, often receiving standing ovations for their dynamic performances, stellar songwriting, gorgeous harmonies – and, perhaps most importantly, the homemade baked goods and cakewalks that accompany each show. In their first six months, Mama’s Blue Dress performed at the 30A Songwriters Festival, Folk Alliance, the CMA Music Festival, and the Nashville date of the Country Throwdown tour, where they took the mainstage. The group was recently featured on WSM Radio’s “Coffee, Country & Cody”.
Each member is an accomplished songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist in their own right:
NICOLE WITT (vocals, fiddle, guitar, glockenspiel) has written songs for numerous country stars including George Strait, Lauren Alaina, Rodney Atkins and Terri Clark, and Christian artists such as Mandisa and Natalie Grant. She won 2011 Song of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Awards.
VANESSA OLIVAREZ (vocals, percussion) is a Dora Award-nominated vocalist who wrote and recorded a Top 10 pop single in Canada. She wrote several songs recorded by Sugarland (including “Sugarland” on their multi-platinum hit album “Enjoy the Ride”), and was recently featured on PBS’ Sun Studio Sessions with Granville Automatic. She was also a Top 12 finalist on the second season of American Idol.
ELIZABETH ELKINS (vocals, guitar, mandolin) is a Grand Prize Winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest whose songs have been placed on numerous television shows. She has been featured in Guitar Player magazine and is also a member of Granville Automatic.
BETHANY DICK-OLDS (vocals, fiddle, guitar, mandolin) is a Dove Award-winning fiddle champion who has toured with Pam Tillis and Sara Evans. Her songwriting landed her a cut with Evans, and she was a finalist in the Merlefest Songwriting Contest.
