Live at the Market 6/19 : The Packway Handle Band
In early 2006 The Packway Handle Band from Athens, GA went on the road full time, wowing audiences and winning awards across the country with close 4-part harmonies and their dance around two tightly-spaced condenser mics. The band has emerged at the national forefront of bands that use a gather-around-the-mic style; theirs is not a mission to preserve historical styles— it’s just how they do what they do the best. And what they do best is rooted in thought provoking songwriting, clever choice and arrangement of bluegrass traditionals, and totally unexpected (even totally inappropriate) covers, all delivered with a crackling energy.

Live on the EPB stage 5/15: Blushin’ Roulettes
Hailing from the west coast friendly ghost town of Caspar, California, the Blushin’ Roulettes deliver old-time tunes with a modern twist rooted in feminine perspective. Award winning songwriter Angela Rose belts her sweet and sultry tunes of damsels in their bliss and distress in a warbling vibrato often likened to Iris Dement. The quirkily comical stage presence and loving interplay amidst band members reflects the closeness of the kindred rotating cast of characters, which includes Buddy Stubbs on soulfully gritty lead guitar (Stubbs has played with members of Crazy Horse, Gene Clark, and Hollywood Fats, to name a few). Cas Sochacki rings in on the dobro and on baritone vocals on salty duets. Not-so-little drummer boy Jubal Stedman chugga-lugs brushy train-beat rhythms.

Live on the EPB stage 5/15: Julie Gribble
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Gribble was born with an infectious personality. Her younger years were spent on the stage as an actress which lead to her current film and tv career.    She grew up writing poetry, which eventually led to song writing. She had always wanted to find a way to share her stories, and through hours of watching artists play guitar, drawing the chords on bar napkins and practice, her dreams became a reality.  After a few open mics in LA she was offered her first gig and after that within a year released her first record, “Back Inside of Me.”  Through her own means and persistence, Gribble has managed to tour the US and Canada, open for major label artists, become the face of Hotel Indigo’s Featured Artist, and be asked to perform on many national television shows around the country as well as numerous radio spots.

Live on the EPB Stage 5/8 : Anna Johnson
Anna Johnson is a girl who makes music from the deepest part of her heart. It’s intentionally simple/stripped/sincere so people feel what she feels. Effortless. Beautiful. No unnecessary words. No unnecessary flash. Lyrics and music from her soul to yours. Alison Krauss meets pop meets Norah Jones meets something honest and true.
In 2008 Anna won the hearts of legendary rock band Queen when they heard her song “Flowers On Monday” and gave her a full 4-year scholarship to pursue songwriting at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, MN. After one year of training, she moved to Music City, Nashville, TN to record her national debut album, “Ready To Go”. Since the release in May 2010, Anna has shared the stage with musicians like Colbie Caillait, Jim Lauderdale, John Carter Cash, Orla Fallon and others! She is endorsed by world renowned guitar company, McPherson Guitars and is working on her 4th recording, an earthy-pop EP, at McPherson Studios in Nashville, TN. Along with her independent recording career, Anna is touring with her Nashville band, painting and selling her own artwork, writing with various established musicians and working her way around the country as she wins people over one show at a time.

Live on the EPB stage 5/8: Morgan Bracy
With its lush orchestration, expressive vocals, and sophisticated songwriting, End Of Cinderella perfectly captures Morgan’s “organic pop” sound that has been called “folk for modern ears” by MusicRow Magazine. Drawing inspiration from major influences including Joni Mitchell, Patti Griffin, and Mindy Smith (“Singer-songwriters who know how to tell a story”), Morgan Bracy takes familiar stories and makes them new again, disassembling old-fashioned ideas and putting them back together in a way she can accept.

Live on the EPB stage 5/1: Jennifer Daniels
Daniels latest release is still hot off the presses but has already sparked the interest of several major and indie labels, and promises to delight and inspire an even wider audience than her sophomore album Dive & Fly. Creative Loafing Atlanta says, “If youre in need of an antidote to all things Britney-like, Daniels latest effort Summer Filled Sky is like taking 12 doses of sanity in a world gone wrong.” Creative Loafing Review of Summer Filled Sky

Live on the EPB Stage 5/1 : Nicole Witt
There is something striking about Nicole when she stands on a stage. Maybe it is the calm and confident way she addresses a crowd. It could be the ability to play the fiddle and piano with abandon. There’s a probability it’s the voice that leaves Nicole’s personalized stamp on each song she sings. Or it might be the songwriting that weaves emotion into an unforgettable sound. However, more than likely it’s all of the above…
It would be wrong to give you only facts about the woman, because the music tells her story. There is poetry in the notes she sings. There are tears in the wail of her bow making it’s way across the fiddle. There is a hush floating from the keys of the piano. It is rare to be unable to compare one artist to another. Nicole Witt is one of those rarities. Her art is her own.
