Independence Day Celebrations – Chattanooga/Collegedale Markets

For Immediate Release – The kick-off celebration for next weekend will be the Collegedale Freedom Celebration, Thursday, July 1st at The Commons. In partnership with the City of Collegedale, the Collegedale Market will be open beginning at 4pm until dusk. The Market will include local arts and crafts vendors, food trucks and food artisans for a festive night time market. The Independence Day celebration is the largest of it’s kind—this year—and organizers aim to invite everyone in the Chattanooga metro area. The event is free, however, parking is limited ($5 parking charge) therefore guests are encouraged to come early. There will be plenty for visitors to do in order to make an all afternoon/evening outing.

Live music at the Collegedale Freedom Celebration, July 1:
Ain’t Just Whistlin’ Dixie Jazz Band 5:00
Ann Baldree 5:30
Monday Night Social 6:45
East Tennessee Symphony & Orchestra 8:30

…followed by City of Collegedale fireworks.

The regularly scheduled Collegedale Market will continue on Sunday, July 4th. With seasonal produce being at its peak, farms will be on hand as well as several arts and crafts vendors. This weekly market is held also at The Commons on Sundays 10am-2pm.

Then, on Sunday, July 4th Chattanooga Market will be a festive Independence Day celebration with live music, food trucks and the season’s best pick of produce. Blueberries are the darling of the day and vendors will be creatively including them in their products. Visitors can find sweet treats like blueberry pies and cakes and even items like blueberry scented bath and body products. There are dozens of great blueberry inclusion ideas and it’s part of what makes the day fun for the vendors as well as the guests.

20+ person swing band, Sweet Georgia Sound will be playing live music (with some patriotic tunes) on the Lodge Cast Iron Sizzle Stage throughout the day. The local favorite has been playing at the Chattanooga Market every season for at least a decade.

And for folks visiting Chattanooga on this special weekend, the Chattanooga River Market is open Saturdays on the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza, 10am-5pm. This artists market is a must-see of the region’s best local and regional artists. Free yoga is offered at 10am and live music is performed on the Plaza as well. A trip to the Chattanooga River Market can be a day’s worth of family entertainment.
